① on the contrary（それどころか、反対に）
・前の否定的な内容を否定し、正反対の事実を述べる時に使います。
・例文：「彼は怠け者ではない。on the contrary、彼は非常に勤勉だ。」（He is not lazy. On the contrary, he is very diligent.）
② to the contrary（それに反して、逆の）
・「反対の内容」を示す証拠や情報があることを表します。
・例文：「彼は元気だと聞いていたが、evidence to the contraryがある。」（I heard he was well, but there is evidence to the contrary.）
・「unless you hear to the contrary（反対の連絡がない限り）」のような慣用表現でよく使われます。
主な違い：
・on the contraryは積極的に反対意見を述べる
・to the contraryは「反対の内容・証拠」という名詞的な使い方が多い
